Bisquick’s Velvet Crumb Cake – Come Home Again

As she returned from spring break my child, Marie, posted  on social media, “back to my life…consisting of classes, work and a lack of cake that is thoroughly disheartening.” Well, this cake, Marie, is simple to whip up and memorably delicious. And I would add, with motherly advice, you need to make your own cake in this life wherever you land. And then enjoy eating it.

This nostalgia bake is brought to you by Betty Crocker, who warehouses the Bisquick Velvet Crumb Cake Recipe on their website. (What? It’s no longer on the Bisquick box?) It was a favorite of mine as the child and remains a favorite, with minor tweaks to the recipe.

I have made a few adult-taste substitutions for the “nuts” (toasted pecans) and I used butter in place of the margarine or shortening.

Not as fancy as a Cafe Sabarsky cake, I highly recommend this cake for easy at-home cake one-ness.
